Artist of the Month: Maryjo Floryjanski

Simply put, my passion is painting.
I began my career as a watercolorist. Early in my career, my mother, who is an oil painter, would send me to classes
taught by local artists. I enjoyed using watercolors and became enmeshed with the process. I loved the transparency
of seeing the
underlying layers show through each level of paint. I loved the clear, clean, mixed colors, and the
reaction of the paint with water.
The Tikis are forgiving. They let me experiment. Through this experimentation of color layering, textures, and designs, each Tiki develops a personality. Tikis are designed to be charming. They are the life of the party, enjoy a good conversation or simply hanging around people. Tikis made their debut in 2009 on St. Armand’s Circle.
