Hand Building & Wheel Throwing
Instructor Walter Yovaish
FALL/WINTER/SPRING 2008/2009
Students will be introduced to the fascinating world of ceramics. The course starts with various hand building techniques using coil, pinch and slab methods incorporating various textural elements to enhance the piece. A glazing lecture will follow explaining the many techniques available to the students. When the first pieces are completed a wheel throwing demonstration will be given for those who wish to explore that aspect of ceramics.
Students who have developed a degree of skill and who wish to, may delve into special throwing and glazing techniques. Projects will be assigned if needed or the student will pursue concepts and projects of their own choosing.
