FALL/WINTER/SPRING 2008/2009

Beginning Pottery

In this five week course students will learn the basic steps to successfully "throw" a pot on the wheel. Starting with wedging the clay and continuing through centering, opening and pulling up (throwing), students will make bowls and cylinders. To complete the process, students will trim their work and then glaze it.

Monday - 9:30 a.m.-12:00 noon

Series 1 - October 6-November 3
Series 2 - November 17-December 15
Series 3 - January 5-February 2
Series 4 - February 16-March 16
Series 5 - March 30-April 27
Series 6 - May 11-June 15 (no class 5/25)

Fee: Five Week Series $140*/Members $175*/Nonmembers
*Each five week series includes 25# of clay, glazes and firing.

Intermediate/Advanced Pottery

In this five week course students will learn to make bigger, better and more consistent pots on the potter's wheel. Each class will start with a demonstration of a particular technique for throwing bowls, plates or cylinders or for trimming and glazing the pieces. Students will be able to work on varied projects or projects may be assigned.

Monday - 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Series 5 - March 30-April 27
Series 6 - May 11- June 15 (no class 5/25)

Throwing on the Wheel: All Levels

This class is for students at all levels from beginning to advanced. We will work on the basics of "throwing" a pot on the wheel and continue from there according to each student's abilities. Since the class is small there is a lot of individual attention.

Wednesday: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Series 2 - November 12-December 17 (no class 11/26)
Series 3 - January 7 - February 4
Series 4 - February 18-March 18
Series 5 - April 1-29
Series 6 - May 13-June 10
