Sculpture in Clay
Instructor Nancy Heart
FALL/WINTER 2008/2009
Here is your chance to try making that piece of sculpture you've always wanted to. It could be your pet, a favorite animal, abstract ideas, small figure, etc. In this class your creation will be from your ideas and artistic conceptions. The goal is to learn the basic techniques of sculpture; discussion throughout the course will include structure, composition, proportion, movement, design, surface finish, transition between forms and modeling a smooth or textured surface. This information will allow you enough craftsmanship and knowledge to capture your ideas in clay. You will learn how to handle this medium with its unique properties and wonderful "earthy" feel. Students must be prepared with needed information the first class, (ideas, pictures or sketches, etc.) regarding your desired creation. All levels welcome, individual attention will be given each student. This is a relaxing class, creativity is encouraged. Fun with a serious side to learn and enjoy sculpture.
