FALL/WINTER 2007/2008

Pastel is an exciting and versatile medium, truly hands on. Representational, as well as abstract images will be explored using sanded paper with soft pastel. The rich vibrant color of pastel lends itself to experimentation with different techniques such as layering, blending and scumbling. With pastel you mix the color on the paper, not on a palette. Underpainting with watercolor or oil washes can add a different and exciting dimension. Students may work from their own photographs. Ruth's desire is to share her enthusiasm and love for pastel.
