During January's Portrait and Figure Show, Sue Turconi will be explaining the function and purpose of a show judge. The title, "Judging and Being Judged", will help if you have ever wondered what alchemy goes into judging a show. Sue will also cover the importance of juried shows to an artist and include a slide presentation. She will share lessons learned from judging shows and being judged.
Wednesday, February 11, 11am
Julia Hyman, a local and well known sculptor, will talk about her work while the 3-D Exhibition is up. This is a "How I do it" talk with slides and examples of work and tools. If you are at all familiar with Julia's work, you can now become acquainted with the techniques used to develop that voluptuous garlic clove from a block of stone.
Monday, April 13, 11am
During Mix It Up - the Members' Exhibit, which features mixed media art work, artist Eleanor Merritt will discuss mixed media techniques and various styles of working with a multimedia approach on a two dimensional surface. As part of her lecture, she will take a tour through the show discussing the hanging work.
The Lecture Series is open to the public. Bring your friends and neighbors. Keep in mind that the art center does not charge for these lectures but a donation at the door would be greatly appreciated.
